Walking down a dark road at 8 pm, and suddenly a roar, you know you are approaching Changi Jurassic Mile in Singapore. A Pterodactyl with its eggs greets you perch up on the corner. Still not the origin of that load roar. After turning the corner and a short walk a large Apatosaurus leans over to see who is coming down the track.
Jurassic Mile
Next, a little bit further on another herbivore and my childhood favourite Parasaurolophus, ever so grateful. Moving along a Stegosaurus parent is busy entertaining the little ones with a golf flag. Quite a bit further on you need to watch out from above, baby Pterodactyls are seated on the fence. Everyone needs to cool down in some shade from the hot sun in Singapore and stay hydrated. And that is exactly what the Brachiosaurus did, enjoying a drink from the golf course pond. Mind the fence for the next stretch, it seems a Tyrannosaurus Rex is trying to get out. Maybe to the eggs that are on the track a few meters away.
Meanwhile, a few naughty Velociraptors got hold of a golf cart, beautiful at night surrounded by light bulbs. On the corner two heavily armed Ankylosauruses seems to be in a bit of a head-bud. Moving along a momma Triceratops is looking at her baby trying to escape its egg. They reminded me of the little dino pets I had as a child, the ones with nappies on that you place into the water and it changed colour. Anyone remember those? Reaching the end another Pterodactyl bid us farewell on our way to the bus at terminal 4.
We walked up from the East Coast Park using the PCN, read more about walking the East Coat Park and up to Jurassic Mile here.

About Jurassic Mile
Jurassic Mile is a permanent outdoor exhibition, showcasing life-size dinosaurs. It is part of the 3.5km Changi Airport Connector that connects the East Coast Park to the Airport. Within the 20 dinosaur displays, you can spot eleven different types of dinos.
Where is it Â
Jurassic Mile runs along the perimeter of the airport, terminal 4. Sandwiched next to Tanah Merah Golf Club, the path can get busy as it is shared with cyclists too. The bus stop at Terminal 4 is about 800m from the start. But do take note that if you do not wish to carry on walking to the start of the East coast Park which is about 1.6 km onward, you will need to retrace your walk back up again. Totalling about 4km.
If you choose to walk to the East Coast Park, you will be right at the top close to NSRCC with a few cafes, our favourite is Stella with a stunning ocean view.
Jurassic Mile is quite out of the way. However, you might want to make a day of it. See where to eat below.

Cycle
If you which to cycle you can rent a bicycle at $8/h per adult and $6/h per child from GoCycling at Hub & Spoke close to T2. At Hub & Spoke you can enjoy some refreshments and even make use of the pay-per-use shower facility.
 Cost & duration
It is free to enter and is open 24/7. It would probably take you anything from 30-50min to do the Changi Jurassic Mile Singapore, depending if you are doing a return walk and how long you admire and take photos of course. If you plan to walk the whole Changi Airport Connector which is 3.5km to T2 it would take much longer.
Did you know it is the first time you can actually walk to the airport via the Changi Airport Connector?
Best time to visitÂ
I would probably recommend coming during the evening as they are beautifully lit up and it is cooler. As always, Singapore is magical after dark with all the beautiful lights. If you do come during the day, it can get very hot as you are exposed to the harsh sun and it would be a rather unpleasant visit. Therefore early morning would be advised as the large wall provides morning shade. Weekdays would also be less busy than weekends with a higher number of visitors. Â
Where to eat
If you are at the top end of Jurassic Mile closes to T4, you can make use of the Changi Airport Connector to walk either 2.5km to the Jewel with an array of eateries as well as the canopy park and sky nets for the children to enjoy. Or 2.2km to Hub & Spoke, a colonial style eatery and GoCycling bicycle rental store. They even have a pay-per-shower facilities. The walk up Changi Airport Connector also has a few surprise dinos awaiting you along the route.
Hub & Spoke is open during the week from 10 am to 8 pm, and over weekends and PH from 9 am to 9 pm.
Alternatively if you walked down to the East Coast, Stella restaurant has amazing ambience and sea views.
The fence and the net?
Now you might wonder why there is a metal fence between you and the dinosaurs. Well, the golf course is right next to these guys, you can even see a few of them taking over a golf cart. They added a net overhead as well shortly after opening last year, this was after someone was hit by a golf ball.
I received mixed reviews from others who visited Changi Jurassic Mile Singapore before, they either liked it or were slightly underwhelmed. Well, I liked it, not oh wow, mind-blowing amazing, but enjoyable. A fun activity for kids and even for those of us still young at heart. Got my phone right up to the fence, wide-angle setting and clicked away ( don’t you just love that phones now too have wide angle functions).
Surprise dinos
Now if you made your way up to Jewel or Hub & Spoke you would have noticed a few surprise Dinosaurs. There is an almost 4m high T-rex close to T4, and a few others along the way. They are not part of Jurassic Mile, they are ‘up cycled’ from a previous event/exhibition held at the airport and it took them 3 weeks and a few men to transport these prehistoric creatures. Do comment below if you spotted the others. Can be quite a fun outing, exploring for all of them.
